Trusting God

Paul Hewson, better known as Bono, the front man for U2, writes lyrics from a particular Christian perspective. His faith is what drives his creativity as well as his activism. One of my favorite songs of U2’s is called October from their album with the same title:
October
And the trees are stripped bare
Of all they wear
What do I care
October
And kingdoms rise
And kingdoms fall
But you go on...and on...
It is a prayer, a conversation, with God. It is a description of despair, changing of seasons, and the consistency of God in all of it. For me I hear a particular Christian hope in this song, that even in the midst of life changes, melancholy, and even political turmoil, our God is ever present.
The Psalmist sings similar words:
When I look at your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?
Yet you have made them a little lower than God,
and crowned them with glory and honor. (Psalm 8)

This song and this psalm helped me through tough times as a young adult. They both encouraged me to trust in the covenant God made with me and the world. This promise that God will be with us always, from now to the end of time. What song helps you through tough times? What peace of scripture brings you comfort?
